This past summer, three of our writers, Lauren Gregory, Hannah Moskowitz and Sarah Palocko, were able to attend the Scripps Summer Journalism Program at Ohio University. The writers stayed on Ohio University's campus for four days and were able to attend lectures and receive tips from professors and professional journalists. During their stay, the writers were able to work on stories with the help of professors and other journalism students. The writers had two days to research, conduct an interview, and write their stories. The girls agree that this was a great way to learn what it is really like to be in the field of journalism, and it gave her a fresh perspective as to what the career is like. Not only were our writers able to meet with Ohio University's staff, they were able to meet with students from all around Ohio in order to learn from each other and make new friendships. Writer Sarah Palocko said that, "It was a great experience getting to collaborate with students from other schools on stories. I got a fresh perspective on my writing from peer edits, which helped me grow as a writer in a short four days." The four staffers had a great four day where they were able to grow their journalism skills while having fun with students from all around Ohio.
